The Slow Food organization created the presidia project to help preserve a small number of endangered food products. It has designated only one such product grown in California, the Gravenstein Apple. It was chosen for its taste, historical importance to Sonoma County, and because it's at extreme risk of going extinct as a commercial food product.

This video documents the Save the Gravenstein Apple of the Slow Food Russian River in their apple give away project to raise awareness and to help save the apple farmers and thus save the Gravenstein Apple.

This video is only a small piece of a larger effort to help save not only the apple, but also the farms and farmer of apple growers in Sonoma County.
