A Civil Suit

Hang Wah, a Chinese merchant, has instituted civil proceedings in Justice Wilson¹s court against Sabin D. Thrift for the sum of one hundred and one dollars, alleged to be due on a berry picking contract. Mr. Thrift contends that the contract was annulled by the Chinamen leaving for the hop fields before his berries were all picked. Jas. A. Stidger of this place has been retained by the Chinamen and Webber and Julliard will look after Mr. Thrift¹s interests.
